LEGEND
Few routes can rival the appeal of a linear path. Every sunrise brings a new horizon, a stage to conquer, and a story to write.
And to culminate this epic experience, each participant receives a unique bottle, meant to unite the waters of the two seas. A symbolic gesture marking the end of a monumental journey, a tangible memory of having crossed land and fused two great seas.
At Transpyr Coast to Coast, we are convinced that the true essence of the Pyrenees is discovered by riding during the day and resting at night. The stage routes allow you to enjoy each kilometer with maximum intensity, turning each day into a complete and meaningful adventure, part of a greater mission.
Unlike ultradistance events, where fatigue can tarnish the experience, our stage routes allow you to savor each section of the course, fully experiencing the landscapes and emotions. The stage towns, true oases along the way, offer a space to recharge, share experiences, and connect with the rich Pyrenean culture. It is here that cyclists and locals exchange stories, friendships are formed, and a deep respect for the land is nurtured.
Each sunrise invites you to a new horizon, with landscapes to discover and challenges to overcome. This journey is not just a physical challenge, but a transformative experience that boosts self-esteem, fosters solidarity, and awakens a lasting love for the nature and culture of the Pyrenees.
At Transpyr Coast to Coast, stage routes are not just a course; they are a journey with purpose, an adventure that leaves an indelible mark on those who dare to live it.
The Transpyr Coast to Coast is made for you if you train regularly and have the proper physical and mental preparation.
Participants must be able to maintain an average speed of at least 10 km/h on each stage.
The Transpyr Coast to Coast consists of 7 stages, totaling approximately 750 km in distance and nearly 18,000 m of cumulative elevation gain, which represents a daily average of 105 km and about 2,500 m of cumulative elevation.
Accommodation booking is the participant’s responsibility, but we make it easier for you.
You can book it yourself at each stage point, travel by camper van, or opt for the HOTEL PACK offered by VALUA TRAVEL with different options.
Accommodation is not included in the registration.
The organization will give you a bag during accreditation so you can place all your belongings.
This Transpyr bag will be transported every day to your accommodation (provided it is located in the urban center of the stage town).
If you wish, we can send the bag to your home before the accreditation so you can organize yourself better.
The bag cannot exceed 20 kg.
Breakfast is the responsibility of the participant, although it is included in the hotel packages offered by VALUA TRAVEL.
During the course, the organization provides solid and liquid supplies. One of the aid stations serves as lunch with rice or pasta. At the end of the course, another light supply is offered.
The registration also includes a carbohydrate-rich meal in the evening, what we call the Pasta Party.
It is recommended to bring energy supplements and start the stage with at least one liter of drink.
If you wish to return home from Irun:
Once you have completed the Transpyr Coast to Coast, there is a SHUTTLE BUS that will take you back (departure the morning after arrival in Irun).
If you transport your bike in a box, we can store it safely.
You can leave your vehicle in an (unguarded) parking lot in Roses.
No. The mandatory sports insurance is included in the participant’s package. However, each participant is free to take out and use additional insurance if desired.
Throughout the course, a medical assistance service is available. Its mission is to attend to injured or accident victims DURING EACH STAGE. Once the stage is completed, any participant who requires medical attention will need to be attended to by the public or private medical services of the local town.
There are some moderately technical, even difficult, sections, but they are few. These are moments when you can get off your bike and get back on later. In general, the Transpyr Coast to Coast features a high level of bikeability.
No, the accreditation and briefing take place in the evening on the day before the start.
Participation is restricted to those over 18 years of age.
A cycling license is not required.
The mandatory insurance is already included in the participant pack. If deemed necessary, you can purchase additional insurance on your own to expand coverage.
Once your belongings have been transferred to the Transpyr Bag we give you during accreditation, you can:
The bike box transport during the Transpyr Coast to Coast is an optional service that must be booked.
You can also arrange to have the Transpyr Bag sent to your home before the race.
There are several reasons: one might break the GPS in a fall, it could stop working, or the battery might run out; the team may need to separate due to force majeure.
Additionally, we want to verify the route tracking individually, as the FINISHER distinction is awarded on a personal basis.
A participant will be considered a “Finisher” of the Transpyr Coast to Coast if they have completed the route planned by the organization within the maximum time limits set for each stage. The GPS track may serve as proof in case of any doubts.
Following a route via GPS is quite simple. However, you must ensure that the chosen device is suitable for MTB use (it can be mounted on the handlebars and easily viewed), has enough memory to record a route of over 100 km with logs every 50 meters, and has a battery life of more than 12 hours (and bring spare batteries or replacement power sources).
In the TRANSPYR Coast to Coast, it is essential to avoid any mechanical issues. Participants can book in advance a mechanical service for tune-ups at the end of each stage.
During the stages, it is not possible for us to assist participants, and the organization will not provide any services in this regard.
The organization guarantees the availability of bike cleaning stations at the end of each stage, either with hoses or pressure washers, as well as a small self-service workshop area.
Of course!
Your friends and family can attend the different events: the start and finish, briefing, pasta party… For this purpose, we have created the Companion Pack.
This pack is designed so that they can come and cheer you on and share the TRANSPYR Coast to Coast adventure to the fullest. The pack includes companion accreditation, a tourist dossier to help them discover the wonders of the Pyrenees, tickets for the Pasta Party, parking in reserved areas (at some stage points), and other accessories.
If your companions are only coming for one day, you have the option to buy a ticket for the pasta party.
The Companion Pack can be purchased through your private area or at the race office (RACE OFFICE).
TRANSPYR Coast to Coast takes place in June to ensure the maximum daylight and favorable weather conditions. However, participants should consider the weather differences between the Cantabrian and Mediterranean sides and the altitude reached at certain points of the route (with a maximum of around 2000 meters), as rapid weather changes are possible in mountainous environments.
