Cycling Gran Fondo through the Pyrenees
If you love asphalt, secret roads, and enjoy road cycling, the Backroads category is perfect for you. Ride through stunning landscapes, mythical mountain passes, and winding valleys and mountains, as you conquer the Pyrenees from sea to sea, from the Mediterranean Sea (Roses) to the Atlantic Ocean (Irun).
The Backroads category offers a stage race that will take you to conquer the Pyrenees from sea to sea, on a journey full of adventure, beautiful roads, mythical passes, and stunning landscapes.

We offer services to make your participation in the Transpyr Coast to Coast easier.
Some services are provided directly by the organization, while others, such as accommodation, transportation, physiotherapy, and mechanical assistance, are managed by external companies and should be booked directly with them.
The Transpyr Coast to Coast is made for you if you train regularly and have the proper physical and mental preparation.
Participants must be able to maintain an average speed of at least 10 km/h on each stage.
The Transpyr Coast to Coast consists of 7 stages, totaling approximately 750 km in distance and nearly 18,000 m of cumulative elevation gain, which represents a daily average of 105 km and about 2,500 m of cumulative elevation.
Accommodation booking is the participant’s responsibility, but we make it easier for you.
You can book it yourself at each stage point, travel by camper van, or opt for the HOTEL PACK offered by VALUA TRAVEL with different options.
Accommodation is not included in the registration.
The organization will give you a bag during accreditation so you can place all your belongings.
This Transpyr bag will be transported every day to your accommodation (provided it is located in the urban center of the stage town).
If you wish, we can send the bag to your home before the accreditation so you can organize yourself better.
The bag cannot exceed 20 kg.
Breakfast is the responsibility of the participant, although it is included in the hotel packages offered by VALUA TRAVEL.
During the course, the organization provides solid and liquid supplies. One of the aid stations serves as lunch with rice or pasta. At the end of the course, another light supply is offered.
The registration also includes a carbohydrate-rich meal in the evening, what we call the Pasta Party.
It is recommended to bring energy supplements and start the stage with at least one liter of drink.
If you wish to return home from Irun:
Once you have completed the Transpyr Coast to Coast, there is a SHUTTLE BUS that will take you back (departure the morning after arrival in Irun).
If you transport your bike in a box, we can store it safely.
You can leave your vehicle in an (unguarded) parking lot in Roses.
No. The mandatory sports insurance is included in the participant’s package. However, each participant is free to take out and use additional insurance if desired.
Throughout the course, a medical assistance service is available. Its mission is to attend to injured or accident victims DURING EACH STAGE. Once the stage is completed, any participant who requires medical attention will need to be attended to by the public or private medical services of the local town.
No, accreditation and briefing are held the day before departure.
No. Participation is reserved for people over 18 years old.
It is not necessary to be in possession of a cycling license.
Mandatory insurance is already included in the participating pack. If you think it’s necessary, you can book an additional insurance policy on your own to extend coverage.

The bike box transport during the Transpyr Coast to Coast is an optional service that must be booked.
You can also arrange to have the Transpyr Bag sent to your home before the race.
Participants who cover the route planned by the organization within the maximum hours set for, will be considered “finishers” of Transpyr Backroads.
The GPS track can be checked in case of doubt.
In Transpyr Backroads it is essential to avoid any mechanical setback. Participants can contract a mechanical service in advance to have the bikes checked at the end of each stage.
During the stages, it is not possible to assist the participants and the organization will not directly have anybody in this regard.
The organization guarantees the existence of bicycle cleaning points at the end of each stage, either with hoses or pressurized machines, as well as a small self-workshop space.

Your friends and family will be able to attend the different events: departure and arrival, briefing, pasta party … For this purpose, we have created the Accompanying Pack.
It is a pack designed so that they can come to cheer you up and share the Transpyr Coast to Coast adventure, enjoying it to the fullest. This pack includes accreditation as a companion, a tourist dossier to discover the wonders of the Pyrenees, tickets for Pasta Party, parking in a reserved area (at some stage towns) and other accessories.
If your companions only come one day, you will have the option to buy the daily party pasta ticket.
The Accompanying Pack can be purchased through your private area or at the organization’s office (RACE OFFICE).
