Coast to Coast

Get ready for an unforgettable adventure: from sea to sea in just seven days, from the Mediterranean Sea to the Atlantic Ocean. Whether on your mountain bike, road bike, gravel or Ebike, this cross-border journey will take you to discover the authentic Pyrenees. There are many stage races around the world, but only one Coast to Coast.

TRANSPYR COAST TO COAST attracts both adventurers and cyclists looking to push their limits, challenged by the magnitude of the route and captivated by the beauty of its format.

For the more competitive participants, some categories offer a mixed format, combining the thrill of racing with the chance to enjoy the wonders of this unparalleled journey.

General Information

TRANSPYR COAST TO COAST presents an epic challenge, with an accumulated elevation gain of nearly 18,000 meters and a route, depending on the category, ranging from 750 to almost 1,000 kilometers. Despite its magnitude, it’s achievable for those who prepare thoroughly, with around 80% of participants finishing each year. This journey not only tests your endurance but also fosters solidarity and camaraderie, creating lasting bonds between cyclists from all over the world.

Throughout the route, you’ll experience the shifting landscapes, climates, and cultures between the two ends of the Pyrenees. From the Mediterranean light and atmosphere of the Costa Brava in the east to the cooler, unpredictable climate of the Basque Coast in the west.

The eight towns that serve as stage points and host TRANSPYR COAST TO COAST for each category will allow you to recharge and enjoy local hospitality on a journey that will profoundly transform you.

GRAND DÉPART

Roses

The starting point of the Transpyr Coast to Coast is the coastal Mediterranean town of Roses.

Life looks different from a bicycle: everything moves at the right pace, and you become part of a moving landscape. The Costa Brava and the Girona Pyrenees offer endless kilometers of routes and safe roads, waiting for you to explore them, giving you the chance to savor every part of your journey through the region as if you were recreating it with every pedal stroke.

This network of secondary roads will take you through an astonishing variety of landscapes, so much so that in a single ride, you can connect Mediterranean coves with medieval villages nestled between volcanoes and finish by climbing high mountain passes in the Pyrenees. On a bicycle, you set the pace, and the countless options you’ll find on this map will perfectly adapt to it.

STAGE TOWN 1

Camprodon

The second target to conquer in the Transpyr Coast to Coast is the beautiful town of Camprodon.

In the heart of the Girona Pyrenees, with roots in La Garrotxa, lies Camprodon—a land rich in history, tradition, and versatility. Its wildlife, landscapes, gastronomy, and nature make it a vibrant town 365 days a year! The sound of water flowing from its fountains, the fresh mountain air, the Romanesque style preserved in its architectural works, and the scent of nature all invite you to immerse yourself in everything this town has to offer.

The town of Camprodon is its main hub, complemented by the nearby villages of Beget, considered one of the most charming in the Catalan Pyrenees, Rocabruna, and Colonia Estabanell, among others. It also includes the neighborhoods of Cavallera, the manor houses of Mariner, Sitjar, and Resclusanys, the Freixenet neighborhood, and the Font Rubí development.

STAGE TOWN 2

La Seu d'Urgell

Immerse yourself in its landscapes, hidden corners, and traditions, and experience the authenticity of its people. Here, organic and artisanal products are a way of life, not just a trend. STAGE TOWN 3 (MTB/e-bike)

El Pont de Suert

Pont de Suert is the capital of the Alta Ribagorça. Situated in the heart of the Pyrenees, this is a magnificent area for those who want to enjoy the charm of the mountains and immerse themselves in the history and traditions of the Pyrenees.
El Pont de Suert is the gateway to the Boí Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important artistic treasures in the Pyrenees.
The roads linking the municipality with other mountain villages and the most spectacular routes in the Pyrenees are a real challenge for cyclists of all abilities. The climbs to the nearby mountain passes are ideal for the most demanding cyclists, while the quieter routes around the River Noguera Ribagorçana are perfect for those seeking a more relaxed experience.

STAGE TOWN 3 (Road/Gravel)

Vielha

Located in an Atlantic valley in the Pyrenees, the town of Vielha invites you to visit it. Its orography, with hanging valleys, peaks above 2000 meters and perpetual snows, its gastronomy, cultural wealth, unique idiom and a high quality tourist offer, make this corner of the Pyrenees an exceptional place.

STAGE TOWN 4

Ainsa

Strategically located at the confluence of the Cinca and Ara rivers, Aínsa is an ideal starting point for excursions on foot or by bike, for mountaineers and skiers, for hunters and fishermen, and for art and history lovers, and from where you can visit the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park, the natural jewel par excellence of the province of Huesca, or the Posets-Maladeta Nature Park, as well as the Biello Sobrarbe, the Canyons Nature Park and the Sierra de Guara.
From a distance, it appears as a uniform, proportioned and harmonious whole, highlighting the slender tower of the church, the huge castle walls and one of the most beautiful squares in Spain.
Within the walls, the marvel of the Romanesque in every corner, constant surprises in every detail. The streets, squares, plaza and church are well worth a visit.

STAGE TOWN 5

Jaca

Jaca is as synonymous with sport as it is with mountains, snow and ice. Its sporting vocation is no accident, but rather the natural result of a privileged location on the slopes of the Pyrenean mountain range. Amidst an unrivalled scenery of towering peaks, fast-flowing rivers and beautiful paths, Jaca is the ideal starting point for suggestive encounters with a nature that offers unlimited possibilities.
Jaca’s central location and excellent sports facilities have made the city one of Aragon’s leading references, reinforced by the activity of its many clubs and the deep-rooted sporting culture of its citizens.
As well as indoor sports, Jaca’s environment offers a wide range of activities linked to nature and snow. The Pyrenean mountains are a luxurious setting for skiing, hiking, climbing, canyoning, horse riding, mountain biking and cycle touring, golf, motorless flight and all the new leisure activities linked to adventure sports. The leisure opportunities in Jaca are truly inexhaustible.

STAGE TOWN 6 (MTB/e-bike)

Burguete-Auritz

The municipality, along with Roncesvalles and Espinal, forms a basin between the peaks of Mount Corona to the east, Mendiaundi and Menditxuri to the west, Bagoandi to the south and Lindus, El Castillo, Girizu and Ortzantzurieta to the north. Ortzantzurieta has the highest altitude at 1,570m. In this watershed, whose capital is Rocesvalles, we can find the division of waters between the Mediterranean and the Cantabrian.
For the less adventurous, the central plain of Burguete offers a wide range of paths between the beech trees, easy for any walker to follow. On any given route, you can hear the songs of hundreds of birds, but only the luckiest will be lucky enough to come across such emblematic species as the Chinese crested hoopoe, the killer whale or the little black cock. Undoubtedly, this part of the Navarre Pyrenees is an admirable setting where through its paths we can find a beautiful landscape and nature spoiled by its inhabitants and the people who pass through it.

Gorráiz Castle - Pamplona

For the first time in Transpyr Coast to Coast, Pamplona joins our stage points. The capital of the Kingdom of Navarre, presents us with a variety of options to do. Cultural visits, a historic town that gives glory to see how well maintained it is, green areas and gardens that give for an impressionist picture, bars with authentic culinary virguerías.
