TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS

DEFINITION

  1. The TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE is a cycling event in the format of a personal endurance challenge that connects two seas across the Pyrenees over seven stages.
  2. These seven stages comprise seven days of riding, each with its start and finish in the eight different stage towns, totaling approximately 900 km and around 17,500 meters of positive elevation gain. This route runs in parallel and on the same dates as the MTB (TRANSPYR GRAN RAID MTB) and ROAD (TRANSPYR BACKROADS) modalities of TRANSPYR COAST TO COAST, sharing infrastructure and partially some sections of the route.
  3. The TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE is a proposal by ANAYET SPORT MARKETING, the trade name of ANAYET LATITUD NORTE S.L.

PARTICIPATION

  1. Participants must be over 18 years old from the first day of the event. In this regulation, a participant is understood as an individual person taking part in the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE.
  2. Every person registered for an event such as the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE must have insurance covering medical assistance for accidents and civil liability during the practice of cycling, according to the nature and scope of the described activity. The organization will provide these insurances with the registration rights. Therefore, registered participants accept to provide their personal data if required for contracting these insurances.
  3. Participation in the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE will be individual.
  4. The route will be followed using personal GPS technology and device.
  5. The organization will provide participants with: a .gpx track, an altimetric profile, and a sketch map, as well as the necessary information for following the route of each stage.
  6. The entire route is carried out under open traffic conditions and in unaltered locations. Therefore, the participant must always respect traffic rules and the indications of the organization staff or law enforcement, being solely responsible for any recklessness. It is necessary to observe applicable regulations and laws, and specifically, no more than fifty cyclists may ride together at the same time on public roads, whether or not they are participants of the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE.
  7. Each participant must have adequate physical condition and technical level, assuming responsibility for their physical and mental state. Participation is restricted to those suffering from any illness or impairment that could endanger their physical integrity or that of others. In this regard, a medical certificate found in their participant area must be duly completed and submitted on accreditation day.

DEVELOPMENT OF EACH STAGE

  1. As a cycling challenge organized with groups of a maximum of 50 cyclists, they will ride freely and at their own pace as long as they always respect the Traffic Code.
  2. The organization will provide clearly marked feed stations along each stage, aiming to cover the participants’ nutritional and hydration needs along the route. However, considering the long-distance and high-elevation characteristics of each stage, it is recommended to always carry some kind of supplement and/or energy bars.
  3. A time limit will be established at the last and possibly at the penultimate feed station to ensure a pace that allows arrival at the finish with daylight for safety reasons. If arriving later than the set time, the participant must follow the organization’s instructions, which may include the need to board the broom wagon and lose the FINISHER status of TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE.
  4. Checkpoints. The participant must follow the track provided by the organization to complete the itinerary covered by it. The feed stations serve as checkpoints to ensure safety. The organization may arrange additional checkpoints at unspecified points along the route to validate the completion of the same itinerary by all participants.
  5. If the organization verifies that a participant has not passed through a checkpoint, it may request the GPS track to validate their route.
  6. In some areas, TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE will coincide on the route and at feed stations with TRANSPYR GRAN RAID MTB (the MTB modality) and/or TRANSPYR BACKROADS (the ROAD modality) of TRANSPYR COAST TO COAST, and mutual respect among participants must be maintained at all times.
  7. Starts will generally be in groups, but the organization may, for safety and logistical reasons, arrange morning starts at different intervals, individually or in small groups.
  8. The finishes of each stage take place in urban sections, so it is necessary to remember to ride at a moderate speed, respecting traffic rules.
  9. The organization grants FINISHER recognition to every participant of the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE who has completed the full proposed route of the seven stages and passed all checkpoints within the established maximum time.

EQUIPMENT

  1. The use of an approved cycling helmet is mandatory.
  2. The participant must have a bicycle in perfect working condition, inspected, with braking system and tires in perfect state.
  3. The participant must be mechanically self-sufficient and carry the spare material they deem appropriate.
  4. Each participant, unless otherwise stated, must always carry with them during each stage the following materials and accessories: approved cycling helmet for road, MTB, or gravel; GPS device with sufficient battery autonomy and spare battery; mobile phone (whose number will have been entered in the participant’s form) with charged battery and balance to make calls; thermal blanket; participant accreditation with emergency phone numbers; one liter of drink.

This equipment will be checked at the discretion of the organization, especially at the start of each stage.

  1. The organization may verify at any time the participant status of anyone registered in the TRANSPYR GRAVEL ADVENTURE. For this purpose, each participant must always carry the badge provided to them.
