E-bike Challenge through the Pyrenees
If you’d like to experience the legendary Coast to Coast adventure with your e-bike, now it’s possible!
The E-Transpyr mode is perfect if you want to enjoy all the landscapes, camaraderie, and magic of the event. Conquer the Pyrenees from sea to sea with your e-bike, from the Mediterranean Sea (Roses) to the Atlantic Ocean (Irun).
We offer services to make your participation in the Transpyr Coast to Coast easier, such as battery transport, among others.
Some services are directly managed by the organization, while others, such as accommodation, transportation, physiotherapy, and mechanical assistance, are managed by external companies and are contracted directly with them.
The e-bike mode offers a stage event that will take you to conquer the Pyrenees from sea to sea, on a journey full of magical landscapes, camaraderie, and adventure.
The E-Transpyr mode will take your Transpyr Coast to Coast experience to the next level:
The Transpyr Coast to Coast is made for you if you train regularly and have the proper physical and mental preparation.
Participants must be able to maintain an average speed of at least 10 km/h on each stage.
The Transpyr Coast to Coast consists of 7 stages, totaling approximately 750 km in distance and nearly 18,000 m of cumulative elevation gain, which represents a daily average of 105 km and about 2,500 m of cumulative elevation.
Electric bikes participating in the E-Transpyr C2C must meet the following requirements:
Provide electric assistance only when pedaling. It is not permitted to install mechanisms that allow the motor to function without the cyclist’s pedaling movement.
Maximum assisted speed: 25 km/h. Beyond this speed, the electric assistance must disconnect. The walk-assist button is allowed. It is not permitted to install mechanisms that override the motor disconnection at 25 km/h.
Maximum motor power: 250W.
Participants in the E-Transpyr C2C may be required to undergo technical inspections before the start and upon arrival. Surprise checks may also be carried out during the route.
Accommodation booking is the participant’s responsibility, but we make it easier for you.
You can book it yourself at each stage point, travel by camper van, or opt for the HOTEL PACK offered by VALUA TRAVEL with different options.
Accommodation is not included in the registration.
The organization will give you a bag during accreditation so you can place all your belongings.
This Transpyr bag will be transported every day to your accommodation (provided it is located in the urban center of the stage town).
If you wish, we can send the bag to your home before the accreditation so you can organize yourself better.
The bag cannot exceed 20 kg.
Breakfast is the responsibility of the participant, although it is included in the hotel packages offered by VALUA TRAVEL.
During the course, the organization provides solid and liquid supplies. One of the aid stations serves as lunch with rice or pasta. At the end of the course, another light supply is offered.
The registration also includes a carbohydrate-rich meal in the evening, what we call the Pasta Party.
It is recommended to bring energy supplements and start the stage with at least one liter of drink.
If you want to return home from Irun:
After the Transpyr Coast to Coast event, there is a SHUTTLE BUS available to take you back (departing the morning after the arrival in Irun).
If you are transporting your bike in a bike box, we can store it safely for you.
No. The Mandatory Sports Insurance is included in the participant pack. However, each participant is free to purchase and use additional complementary insurance if they wish.
A medical assistance service is available along the route. Its mission is to assist injured or hurt participants DURING THE COURSE OF EACH STAGE. Once the stage is completed, any participant requiring medical attention must seek care from public or private medical services in the municipality.
There are some moderately technical sections, and even difficult ones, but they are in the minority. These are moments when you can get off your bike and then get back on shortly after. Overall, the E-Transpyr has a high rideability index.
No, the accreditation and briefing take place in the evening on the day before the start.
Participation is restricted to those over 18 years of age.
A cycling license is not required.
The mandatory insurance is already included in the participant pack. If deemed necessary, you can purchase additional insurance on your own to expand coverage.
Once your belongings have been transferred to the Transpyr Bag we give you during accreditation, you can:
The bike box transport during the Transpyr Coast to Coast is an optional service that must be booked.
You can also arrange to have the Transpyr Bag sent to your home before the race.
A participant will be considered a “Finisher” of the E-Transpyr Coast to Coast if they have completed the route planned by the organization within the maximum time limits set for each stage. The GPS track may serve as proof in case of any doubts.
Following a route via GPS is quite simple. However, you must ensure that the chosen device is suitable for MTB use (it can be mounted on the handlebars and easily viewed), has enough memory to record a route of over 100 km with logs every 50 meters, and has a battery life of more than 12 hours (and bring spare batteries or replacement power sources).
In the E-TRANSPYR Coast to Coast, it is essential to avoid any mechanical issues. Participants can book in advance a mechanical service for tune-ups at the end of each stage.
During the stages, it is not possible for us to assist participants, and the organization will not provide any services in this regard.
The organization guarantees the availability of bike cleaning stations at the end of each stage, either with hoses or pressure washers, as well as a small self-service workshop area.
Of course!
Your friends and family can attend the different events: the start and finish, briefing, pasta party… For this purpose, we have created the Companion Pack.
This pack is designed so that they can come and cheer you on and share the E-TRANSPYR Coast to Coast adventure to the fullest. The pack includes companion accreditation, a tourist dossier to help them discover the wonders of the Pyrenees, tickets for the Pasta Party, parking in reserved areas (at some stage points), and other accessories.
If your companions are only coming for one day, you have the option to buy a ticket for the pasta party.
The Companion Pack can be purchased through your private area or at the race office (RACE OFFICE).
