Regulations

TRANSPYR E-TRANSPYR PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS

DEFINITION

1. The E-Transpyr -hereinafter TRANSPYR- is a cycling event consisting of a personal challenge in the form of mountain bike raids by stages that join two seas along the Pyrenees. It is an event mostly with the uses of public spaces unchanged and open traffic, and subject to the regulations of the different territories where it passes.

2. TRANSPYR is held under a RAID format that combines the link sectors -where the ordinary circulation rules- with the timed sectors -where the free speed rules with the properly controlled traffic.

3. You can participate in TRANSPYR in various modalities, but the dispute of the classifications is reserved to the teams of 2 people according to safety reasons and philosophy of the event.

4. TRANSPYR consists of 7 daily stages that total approximately 750 kilometers and 18,000 meters of cumulative elevation gain.

5. TRANSPYR is a brand and sports event of ANAYET SPORT MARKETING, commercial brand of ANAYET LATITUD NORTE S.L. that can count on the support of entities and companies for its proper development.

PARTICIPATION

6. Participants must be over 18 years of age, from the first day of the event’s accreditation. For the purposes of this regulation, a participant is understood as an individual member or not of a team that takes part in TRANSPYR.

7. Since the test route includes urban traffic and punctually on roads listed of different rank, any participant, even not having a driving license, The General Traffic Regulations are required to be known as far as cycling is concerned and for all places of passage.

8. The organization will provide to every person registered in TRANSPYR an insurance of medical assistance for accidents and civil liability as determined by law for this type of event, valid from the start to the arrival of each stage. It also recommends that participants consider the possibility of taking out private travel insurance to cover any mishaps not covered by this policy. For more information on insurance coverage and activation, please consult the relevant document in the PARTICIPATING AREA.

9. Participation in TRANSPYR will be done individually (E-Transpyr). The participant must be equipped with a geolocation device that the organization will provide and which must be activated throughout the journey.

10. Each participant must have an adequate physical form, assuming his own responsibility for their physical and mental condition. Participation is restricted to those who suffer from any disease or disability of any kind that could put in danger their physical integrity or the other participants. In this sense, the medical certificate found in your Participating Area must be submitted on the day of accreditation.

11. Participants must be able to achieve an average speed of at least 10 km/h for the whole stage, that is, including stops.

EQUIPAMENT

12. The use of a rigid helmet approved for cycling is mandatory throughout the entire route. Failure to comply with this rule will result in expulsion from the event.

13. All participants must use a bike that is in perfect condition for use. This bike can be 26, 27.5, 27.5 plus or 29 inch wheels, rigid or double suspension, but in no case have electric assistance type pedaling aids, except for E-Transpyr C2C. The organization for security and control purposes may take a picture and serial numbers of the bicycle frame of each participant. Only for reasons of force majeure the organization in the person of the Sports Director may authorize a change of the bicycle used and registered.

14. Each participant, unless otherwise stated, must always carry the following materials and accessories: helmet approved for mountain bike, GPS device with replacement batteries or sufficient battery life, Mobile phone with charged battery and balance to make calls, thermal blanket (one per team is accepted), dorsal with emergency numbers, and half a liter of drink minimum. This baggage will be checked at discretion by the organization and especially at the departure of each stage and can be checked randomly at the checkpoints.
There may be other mandatory material and equipment for a particular stage or depending on various variables, which will be communicated in good time.
More comprehensive information on compulsory and optional equipment will be available in the Participant Area.

15. Each participant must carry a GPS device that works properly and allows the track provided by the organization to be displayed while riding the bike. The use of basic mapping is not mandatory but recommended. The GPS device must be set up to record the distance travelled on each stage, with a minimum frequency of 50 metres, and have the necessary autonomy to cover the entire stage. This is of paramount importance because the organization must be able to verify, at its own discretion, the exact follow-up of the pre-established route by any participant.

16. It is mandatory to wear the badge or, in its absence, the registration number visibly on the front of the bicycle or at a place determined by the organisation. Only the badges delivered by the organisation will be accepted and no modification or manipulation of the badges is allowed.

ROUTE

17. The event will be about 750 kilometers in total broken down into 7 stages with a cumulative positive and negative gradient of about 18,000 meters. The estimated difficulty is very high.

18. Distances and differences in level may vary considerably due to changes at the last moment motivated by reasons of force majeure or estimated necessary by the organization. The distances and differences of each day will be announced in the briefing of the day before each stage. The organization reserves the right to change the route of the event at any time.

19. The route will be covered by a track provided by the organisation. The organisation may place signs for help and prevention. If the organization decides to change the route initially planned, or to remove any of the timed sections, it shall communicate the route to be followed, which will become the official route for this part of the route. In some cases, the organization may decide to deviate from the planned route for one or more participants for some justified reason, and judging that there is no advantage for them, they will retain their option of TRANSPYR Finisher.

20. The route, and therefore the track, is confidential until the start of the event or until shortly before the beginning of this. The organization is not responsible for following such a route outside the scope of the event.

21. The organization will inform participants about the pre-distribution process of the track.

22. TRANSPYR passes through natural areas of great value, so it is mandatory to respect the natural environment. Drive on roads and paths outside the organization’s intended route, as well as any environmentally incorrect behaviour or failure to follow the organisation’s environmental instructions may lead to a penalty and even exclusion from the event at the discretion of the organisation. Environmental measures or other regulations may include the need to step off the bicycle and walk.

23. The event being subject to a variety of laws and regulations, the participant accepts that as a general principle he must respect the rules of the movement and the indications of the staff of the organization either fixed or local collaborator identified as such, as well as the law enforcement authorities if any, being the only responsible for the imprudence and violations committed, fully exonerating the promoter and the organization of the expenses, damages and losses caused by its actions.

24. Failure to comply with the Spanish and French traffic laws and regulations and the organization’s instructions shall be considered a very serious offence. The participant agrees to know and comply with it, including those relating to the rider’s equipment and his bicycle (lights, reflective material, etc.).

25. Also, and in general, the spaces and places through which the event runs are public, restricted or private use, are subject to their usual uses that must be respected at all times by participants.

26. In general, the organization cannot serve or be responsible for any participant that circulates outside of the route proposed by it, that is, outside the track provided by the organization. all its points including any annexes published up to that date.

VALIDATION OF THE ROUTE

27. At any time, and at the discretion of the organization, it may validate the route made by any participant by checking the track recorded -track log in English- on their GPS device, That is why all participants accept the possibility of having to hand over their GPS. Failure to comply with this rule shall be considered as serious misconduct.

28. The organization, in turn, reserves the right to register the model and serial number and/ or seal these GPS devices in order to preserve the validity and tracking of the established route.

29. If a participant loses the GPS device or it does not record the recorded route, the equipment to which he belongs must be able to prove the completion of the official route, being able to use the record in the controls for this purpose. This is also why the use of a GPS device per participant is mandatory. In any case, the organization will have the final say on whether this participant still chooses to be a TRANSPYR FINISHER.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE TEST

30. TRANSPYR participants must be at the starting point of the first stage on the eve of the start to prove their registration and proceed to the pre-test verifications. The time and place will be communicated by the organization. The organization may freely extend or change these times and days of accreditation.

31. The event officially ends on the day of the arrival of the seventh and last stage, at the closing of the arrival control. The organization reserves the right to change these times and locations.

32. The departure time of the stages shall be determined by the organisation. The organisation shall establish an exit control to assist in compliance with the established schedules. In this control the organization will review the mandatory equipment of each participant. The participant is responsible for knowing the departure time for each stage.

33. In accordance with the TRANSPYR raid format, participants will generally be given exit by staggered departure procedure, that is to say, by groups. The composition of each group-which ridges are in each group, the number of cyclists that will make up it, and the interval between each group, will be decided by the organization for each particular stage and will be communicated on the eve of each stage. If there is any exception to this departure process, it will be communicated to the participants in good time.

34. The organization shall establish step controls along the route of each stage. There will generally be a step control located at the same place of the refuelling. There may be additional step controls of unknown location. The exit and arrival points for each stage are also step controls.

35. The organisation may set a maximum time for participants to pass each step control. This time limit will be as loose and flexible as possible. Participants arriving outside the maximum time of passage set by the organisation must follow the instructions on the test closure device. The organization may force participants to board the broom vehicle provided by the organization to go to the finish point of that stage, being able to leave at the next stage, but not opting to be TRANSPYR FINISHER.

36. In the last crossing control, the maximum crossing time may be considered as a closing time for safety and test logistics. Participants arriving after this maximum time must board the organization’s broom vehicle to go to the arrival point, being able to leave on the next stage, but not being able to be TRANSPYR FINISHER.

37. The organization may set a time limit for reaching the finish of each stage. Participants arriving after this time limit will be able to continue the test, but will not be eligible to become TRANSPYR FINISHER.

48. The organization will not be responsible for any participant in a situation of withdrawal or final, which, on its own account and risk, decides to follow the intended route or reach the stage point by any other means or route.

39. The test lock, made up of cyclists from the organisation, follows the last participants along the same route and respects the maximum times set for each pass control. If all participants and bike broom arrive at a pass control before their maximum time, this pass control and the supply will be dismantled and the test will continue.

40. In the event that, for an extraordinary reason (for example, a mechanical failure of a participant at the beginning of a stage), a participating team decides to allow itself to be overtaken by the closing device during the course of the stage, this participant will be considered out of control and evolve at its own risk. If this participant recovers and is able to meet the maximum times of the known step controls and accredits the route established by the organization, he will still opt to be TRANSPYR FINISHER.

41. At the end of each stage except for the last, the organization will convene a technical meeting or briefing to assist participants. Although the organization cannot and does not intend to force participants to be present at the daily briefings at the end of each day, participants should consider these briefings with the organization as mandatory attendance. The organisation shall not assume any liability arising from the non-attendance of participants at an information briefing.

PARTIAL OR FINAL ABANDONMENT

42. Participants who abandon the stage should inform the organization as soon as possible. Failure to do so will trigger a search and rescue device, the costs of which are borne by the participant.

43. The organization may force to abandon any participant who is not in the appropriate physical condition or those participants who do not respect and comply with all points of these rules, being not obliged to provide any service, transport or reimbursement.

44. Any participant who has abandoned a day may rejoin the test in successive stages, but he cannot be TRANSPYR finisher and will evolve out of ranking (without option to opt for any competitive distinction).

45. For reasons of logistics and responsibility, the organization cannot take over the transfer of participants beyond the specific situations of temporary or definitive abandonment, limited to their transfer to the point of arrival of the current stage.

46. Those participants in NO FINISHER situation who decide to stay on the test and reach any control of any stage after the last participant in FINISHER situation (that is, have no FINISHER participant behind them), shall be removed from that stage and transported by vehicle until arrival in order to preserve the correct development of the test.

47. Participants who leave TRANSPYR for good must report this to the Race Office.

FINISHER

48. The organization will consider TRANSPYR FINISHER to the participating teams and individuals who accredit passing through each pass control, at all stages, within the time set by the organization, and covering the entire journey envisaged by it. It is therefore essential that each participant records the entire event with GPS devices, so that the organization can check.

APPEALS AND JURY

49. Each participant has the opportunity to object in case of a perceived breach of the rules by other participants or to introduce a warning against the decisions of the organizer and/or the Sports Director up to one hour after the limit of time of arrival or, in the absence of such a plan, up to one hour after the official publication of results, whether partial or final. Such objections must be made in person at the Organizing Office (Race Office) and depending on the nature may require the appointment of one or more witnesses. A Jury of three members (Sports Director, Test Director and another member at the discretion of the organizer) will consult on the issue of appeal and make a decision within 24 hours. The appeal fee is €50.00. This amount will not be refunded if the appeal is dismissed.

The above-mentioned infringements in this regulation, which may be sanctioned at the discretion of the organization, are only an incomplete summary of other possible infringements that may be sanctioned.

RESPONSABILITY

50. The organization is not responsible for any circumstances that may be caused by the participants or suffered by themselves during the course of training and in the event, the participants are solely responsible. In no case shall he or his representatives bring a legal action against the organization or any person connected with it.

51. The participant is solely responsible for his own behaviour and driving, assuming the risks, including towards third parties, that may result from participating in this event, both at the level of physical effort, mental, falls or other type of injuries, Thus expressly exempts the organizer and any sponsor or collaborator, from any kind of accident, incident, injury or eventuality that may arise from participation in TRANSPYR.

52. In the event of an accident, the participants and their companions individually commit themselves to their responsibility from all points of view: economic, civil and criminal.

53. Acceptance of these rules necessarily implies that the participant authorizes the organizers to record all or part of their participation in TRANSPYR, and that you authorize to use your image for the promotion and dissemination of the image of it in all its forms (radio, press, video, photo, DVD, Internet, posters, media, etc.) and gives away all the rights relating to its commercial exploitation and advertising that they consider appropriate to execute, and this without any time limit, without having the right to receive any compensation, whether financial or otherwise.

54. The organization reserves the right to modify these rules, route, provisions, mileage and date of the event if it considers necessary and/ or for reasons of force majeure.

55. At the time of accreditation prior to the start of the event, each participant will sign an affidavit of acceptance of the rules and registration bases of Transpyr Gran Raid MTB, This will mean the full acceptance of all its points including any annexes published up to that date.
